Typical Repair Cost

The following cost estimates are for repairs to a typical three bedroom home in the Twin Cities area. Quotations can vary by as much as 200%.

Roofing/Flashings/Chimneys:
-Install conventional asphalt shingles over existing shingles $1.25-$2 per sq.ft.
-Strip conventional asphalt shingles $1.25-$2 per sq.ft.
-Strip and reshingle on medium sloped roof $2.50-$3.50 per sq.ft.
-Strip and reshingle on steep, high or complex roof $4-$6 per sq.ft.
-Strip and re-roof with cedar shingles $5-$9 per sq.ft.
-Strip and re-roof with slate tiles $12+ per sq.ft.
-Strip and re-roof with clay tiles $7-$10 per sq.ft.
-Strip and replace built-up tar and gravel roof $5-$8 per sq.ft. (min. $1000)
-Strip and replace single-ply membrane $5-$8 per sq.ft. (min. $750)
-Reflash typical skylight or chimney $300-$500

The average GTA home would cost $2300 - $2800 to reshingle on top of the existing roof and an additional $1500- $1900 to strip the existing shingles first.

Electrical:

Insulation:

Plumbing:
-Replace galvanized piping with copper (2 storey with one bathroom) $2000-$2500
